2012-04-20 22:52:15 Diablo 3 Hosts An Open Beta For The Weekend

LAURA JANVIER ANCHOR MEGAN MURPHY Blizzard Entertainment has announced the popular dungeon crawler game Diablo 3 is running an open beta. Lazygamer reports — the open beta will only be available for the weekend. "From Friday, April 20th until Monday, April 23rd, you'll be able to log in, team up with friends, and play each of the five heroic classes to level 13 as you fight to save the world from the impending demonic invasion." For all those impatient gamers who can't wait until the game hits stores early this summer anyone can play for free because Diablo 3's open beta starts today. Cinema Blend explains Blizzard's reasoning behind the open beta. "Blizzard has decided to open up the Diablo 3 beta to all interested players this weekend in order to stress test the servers. Anyone with a Battle.net account can download the client and try out a portion of the action." Softpedia reports ridding the game of any major issues now will only make for a smoother launch. "It's very possible that players connecting to the stress test could experience issues with the service. While not ideal, this is exactly why we're having a stress test. We want to catch and analyze as many bugs as possible during this stress test period, so that we can try to ensure a smooth launch." Forbes agrees and says the event is meant to see if Blizzard Entertainment can handle an increased number of players. "There will likely be bugs and glitches, but an open beta is a good way to get many of them ironed out before the actual launch." For for all those diehard Diablo 3 fans get your PCs and Macs ready because less than a month away the game will hit stores May 15th.
